Proverbs 29:2
- Saints should mourn at the process, people, platforms, and pride of the 2008 general election.
- When Haman was promoted and his platform accepted, Shushan was perplexed (Est 3:15).
- The time is near for saints to hide and live without public identity (Pr 28:28,12; I Kgs 19:18).
- But it is not here yet, because we do not face the persecution others have faced (I Cor 7:26).
John 16:33
- Jesus Christ has overcome the world and its tribulations, so we should be of good cheer!
- Because God has crowned His king, all rulers should submit (Psalm 2:1-12; Eph 1:19-23).
- Because God is among His people with very present help, they can be at peace (Ps 46:1-11).
- He has protected His people in all ages, and we may count on the same (Psalm 105:13-15).
- The world is ignorantly foolish, and the world and all in it are ours anyway (I Cor 3:19-23).
Daniel 4:17
- Saints know that angels have a powerful role in political affairs (Daniel 4:13; 10:13,20).
- Saints know the Most High rules and gives offices to whom He will (Dan 2:21; Rom 13:1-7).
- God may give a high office to the basest of men, which scripture and history clearly prove.
- God called Nebuchadnezzar His servant several times in the book of Jeremiah (Je 25:9, etc.).
- God is Judge, and He will punish wicked rulers and nations (Ps 9:16-17; Eccl 5:8; I Cor 4:5).
Ecclesiastes 10:20
- Because saints know God’s appoints rulers, they are respectful (II Pet 2:10-12; Jude 1:8-10).
- Our lives, including how we treat rulers, should be righteous (I Peter 2:11-17; Titus 3:1).
Jeremiah 29:4-7
- All political changes are by the will and work of God, not merely plans of men (Jer 29:4).
- Saints should go ahead with any desirable economic activity – build and plant (Jer 29:5).
- Saints should go ahead with desired familial activity – children and marriage (Jer 29:6).
- Seek and pray for the peace of your nation for your own peace within it (Jer 29:7).
I Timothy 2:1-3
- Saints supplicate, pray, intercede, and give thanks for rulers at all levels (I Tim 2:1-2).
- Their prayer request, similar to Jer 99:4-7, is for quiet and peaceful lives (I Tim 2:2).
- They desire a peaceful environment to live godly and honest lives (I Tim 2:2).
- This conduct is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour (I Tim 2:3).
Proverbs 21:1
- Saints know their prayers are important for God’s preservation of a nation (Jas 5:16).
- They remember five great men who put off God’s judgment (Jer 15:1; Ezek 14:14).
Genesis 18:32
- Saints know their lives are important for God’s preservation of a nation.
- It is our duty to be the sons of God in a crooked and perverse nation (Phil 2:14-16).
- It is our privilege to start at home to have a godly nation (Ps 33:12; 144:15; Pr 14:34).
